- Make sure you recycle all that you can. If you are unsure, visit this cool website www.RecyclingNearYou.com.au. You can search by your postcode, suburb or council name to find out what you can recycle in you area. If you’re not sure how, ask mum or dad or your teacher to help you.
- Put your food scraps in a backyard compost bin or worm farm. This is much better for the environment than throwing it in the rubbish.
- Newspapers can be good for lining animal cages like birds or mice. They’re also good for craft projects like Papier Mache .
- Don’t throw out old jam jars. Tall ones make great pencil or crayon holders while smaller ones are good for storing buttons, paperclips and other bits and pieces.
- By cutting the top and bottom off milk cartons, they make great tree guards to put over trees you plant in the backyard because they break down and nourish the soil!
- Always make sure you turn the tap off while you brush your teeth so that you don’t waste water.
But don’t just recycle for National Recycling Week, do it all the time and we’ll help the environment together.
Plus, now that you know so much about recycling around your house, you can even teach the rest of the family.
While you’re here, don’t forget to check out the other fun eKidna club things you can do.
